Well Bey has done it again. How? I have no clue, it seems as time goes on you think she couldn’t get any better. Reach another limit and somehow she’s proven me wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME. I mean seriously how do you manage to do about 50 stunning things at once and win at all of them AT THE SAME TIME? I’m sure we have all heard and seen the historic two hour HBCU themed show performed Saturday evening (Sunday for me). It was jammed pack full of Achievements, Reunions, and Culture. Amongst so many others takeaways here is a few I’ve noted.
Find your limit then bust through that Bih
This woman performed from 2 hours with 4 wardrobe changes (including her nails) at the age of 36 had 11 hour rehearsal days. Yes I’m sure she’s doing what she loves so it’s not working. Think about this, if you have a goal/ dream why not work your butt of to get there? We’ve all been there where we just threw the towel in, gave up early or even quite. Finish, There’s going to be those long days and nights working doubles, compromises and of course plenty of stuff we don’t want to do but let’s identify that now (get this out the way now) and let’s go get grinding! Stop setting low limits for yourself. Find a big goal and work hard and let’s get it. This isn’t to say to set LOTS of short-term obtainable goals, have those! Just make sure they all fit within the overarching goal.
Age ain’t nothing but a number.
Did I mention Bey performed two hours at the young age of 36? I gotta repeat it! I’m 10 years younger and I don’t have the stamina, courage, or strength to perform even half of the show. The point is no one can ever tell you, your age is too anything, or you too old to do to be great. As long as theirs breath in your body it’s energy to be great!
Money does not equal time
There is no amount of Money that will equal the time you invest in your self and your craft. The 11 hour days Bey put into that performance SHOWS. Don’t think you can write a check or short cut everything, because it will eventually display in your craft! Take the time to actually learn new things, take new risk and be adventurous. Always be a student in life.
Love yourself and everything else will follow.
🎶🎵🎶 I’m feel’n myself, I’m feel’n myself 🎶🎼🎺🎶🎵
I loved every single second of the experience performed at Saturday nights Beychella, She told us through visionary “I’m very black, unapologetically, and there’s much to be honored and celebrated.” Which is always a breath of fresh air for her to celebrate her heritage and truths. You are who you are, no matter how you may think you can fake the funk it always comes out! Celebrate you! Your backness, your Hair, your strength, your roots, your history, where you come from, where you’ve been! When we start to embrace who we are and what we come from we give everyone the choose to either love it or move on. And for those who move on, I’m sure they aren’t worth it anyways. “Some people are in your life for a reason, while others a season”.
HBCU’s come through!
The dance line, the marching band, the drum line, divine 9, the atmosphere, THE SHOW everything a lot of us take for granted, especially at certain colleges. Sometimes we forget what only can be learned at an HBCUs. The celebration and appreciation that we have for ourselves and culture are rich in these higher education institutions. Did you know there was a time the black community would pass up going to Harvard to attend universities like Morehouse and Howard? I see history repeating itself soon, the #blacklivesmatter movement is driving students to the institutions, and I couldn’t be more excited!
